When the war is over

I'm listening to John Farnham tonight. I read last night of a boy having drowned off Surfers Paradise. That is so sad. His mate couldn't help him as they had been caught in a rip. His body was finally found at Mermaid Beach.

I miss looking at the Pacific Ocean. I can't imagine how many lives have been lost to the waters there. John Farnham's magical voice always reminds of the Pacific. I miss watching the sun rise over the ocean. The scene always brought peace to me. I miss hearing the waves crash onto the shore in the dead of the night.

Burleigh Heads was my fave beach though. I loved climbing the rocks and looking for stones in the puddles. I wish I could go back there one day to just breathe in that ocean air.

I'm still here...

I hadn't written in a long time, eh? Well, it's just that there hasn't been much to say. I've been kept busy and I've been reading a lot but I've taken a break the past week. It was my birthday a week ago and my best friend sent me something I absolutely love... a Tom Jones cd set! hehehe She knows me so well.

Okay, this is a short one. Hope everyone is doing well.

It

I had coffee with a friend a couple of days ago. It was loads of fun. We walked around and looked at the shops for a bit too. It was nice to go out and just enjoy the company of another human being.

I still haven't watched 'Borat' which is a shame because I doubt I'd have this much time on my hands next week. So perhaps I should go to the movies on Monday. I never like going to the movies on the weekend. The cinema tends to be dreadfully crowded and noisy. I hate that. Perhaps I'll watch "The Queen'. I heard it's quite good. I watched 'The Mummy II' for the millionth time last week. I never get tired of watching it. I think Brendon Fraser is sooooooo cute. That's more than enough reason to watch his movies.

I should get a haircut this weekend. My hair is growing really quickly and it's all over my face right now. I feel like Cousin It.

Mel, are you reading this?

I've had another lazy weekend. I didn't do much apart from some housework. You know, I enjoy doing the ironing. I know, many people hate it. It's just that once I get started, I can't stop. So today, when I got through the entire ironing pile, I started ironing the bedlinen. Ha ha, how anal is that?

I also ate a little too much today. I had a heavy lunch, light tea and huge dinner. Darn! There goes my diet.

I am supposed to meet a friend for tea on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to that. I always enjoy a cup of tea and it's doubly fun when I have someone to talk to whist drinking it. We haven't decided where we'll have tea at. I want to some place where I can have nibblies like sandwiches.

I'm in the mood for jelly beans now but I haven't got any at home. I like the green ones the most. I like the ones by Allens which you can get from KMart. But there isn't a KMart where I live now and so, no Allens. I hope my best mate is reading this and so she'll post me some Allens jelly beans from KMart for my birthday.

Talking about my birthday, it's not so far away. In about three weeks, I'll be a year older than I am now. I was watching America's Funniest Videos yesterday and this kid made this fabulous discovery whilst looking at the calendar. At the top of his voice he shouted, "Hey Mom! I was born on my birthday!" That just cracked me up.

Okay, time to go to sleep and dream of talking doughnuts. It's true, I really dreamt of a huge talking chocolate doughnut the other afternoon.

Who hears my voice?

I got my voice back today...okay just a little bit of it. But I can be noisy again...hehehe

Bad broadband service can be a nuisance

I am very annoyed right now. I have spent a good part of this evening trying to connect to the internet. The signal keeps getting lost and this is supposed to be broadband! Heavens, even Telstra provided better broadband!
So today is Australia Day and I suspect fireworks are going off somewhere now. I remember the beautiful fireworks over the Swan River. Absolutely spectacular. Was is by LotteryWest? I can't recall but the Gold Coast fireworks can't ever hold a candle to what you get in Perth.
It's rainy today. I slept for a long time this afternoon and it was nice to wake up to the rain. Do you guys like the rain? All I need now are a warm throw and some chocolate. Yum...
I finished reading "Mercy" during the week. I didn't like the ending. If you know me well enough, you'd know why. I'm reading the Harry Potter series again now. I borrowed the ones I didn't have from my nephews. I like those books. Every time I read a Harry Potter book, I think of one of my best mates from uni. He's the funniest guy I know. He used to do this thing to make me smile; he'd pretend to be a teddy bear in a microwave oven. Okay, before you start thinking I'm some kind of lunatic who thinks teddys in ovens are funny, it was the way he spoke that make me crack up. He would do this little teddy bear voice (well, just pretend you know what they sound like) and it never failed to make me smile. I know he'll be enjoying himself at the fireworks. Oh, wait I'm going all over the place. He likes Harry Potter too and when I went for the first screening of the latest movie outside the States, he tried to put a hex on me. Oh well, he tried. It didn't work! I still watched the movie.
Do you know that I like to go for movies by myself? I think I'll go see Borat next week. I mean, if I wait and wait for someone to go with me, I'll be older than I already am. :)
And talking about being older, I'm less than a month away from my birthday. Not that I'm looking forward to it. I'll be missing Cass a lot. She came two years ago to see me for my birthday and last year, she was my only friend who actually posted me a birthday present. I mean, I got lots of smses and stuff but it's entirely different to get a present in the post. You know, I tried to call her on her birthday. The whole world was celebrating Christmas that day but it was Cass' birthday to me. I didn't know she was already gone by then. I miss my friend a lot.

Still voiceless

Hey there! I'm still without a voice so I spent a good part of yesterday writing. I wrote to my best friend and you know, it's really therapeutic to do so. I can always tell her things that I tell no one else. And it really helps that she listens and doesn't try to fix my problems. I hate it when I sometimes need to just get things off my chest and someone tries to fix them. The process of unloading helps me to heal. I don't know if that is the same with other people. I also wrote some poems. I don't know if they're any good but I enjoyed writing them all the same.
I watched the Tyra Banks Show this morning over breakfast for there was nothing much to read in the papers again. She is very down-to-earth for someone so gorgeous, isn't she?
I am off to read the online news now. Hopefully there'll be something intelligent to read and not some more rubbish about Big Brother. I'm sick to death about that! I'll probably write more later. See ya!
